ABOUT AXL

Aurora Expeditionary Learning (AXL) Academy was founded in 2008 as a PK-8 Expeditionary Learning school. The founders chose the expeditionary learning model out of the belief students should be given the opportunity for real-world experiences and active learning through field work and projects. AXL continues in Aurora today to deliver real-world experiences for every crew member using expeditions, technology and a community-based environment.

VISIT AXL ACADEMY

My Name is Christian, My daughter Lily has been going to AXL for 3 years now and my Son Jeremy graduated from AXL 2 years Ago. I am also a coach for AXL, covering Football, Basketball, and anything else Coach A asks for as well.

I went to an alternative school when I was young which resembles AXL in a lot of ways but AXL has taken everything good about the education system, made it better, and added their own flavor which has been the BEST experience for not only Lily and Jeremy but also myself and the rest of my family. Everyone in this school has real PASSION and COMPASSION for what they do, the people they work with, and the Children they interact with on a daily basis.

From the Teachers like Mrs, Mills to Ms. Kareem to Coach A to Mr. Assaf and Especially the Operations Director Emily Thomsen, I see her every day greeting hundreds of Kids by name, always Smiling and happy. This school is a picture of what education SHOULD look like.
