Aurora eXpeditionary Learning (AXL) Academy was founded in 2008 as a PK–8 Expeditionary Learning school, grounded in the belief that students thrive when learning is active, meaningful, and connected to the real world. From the beginning, our founders envisioned a school where scholars engage deeply through fieldwork, hands-on projects, and authentic experiences that bring learning to life.

Today, AXL continues that mission in Aurora by providing every scholar with dynamic, real-world learning opportunities. Through rigorous expeditions, innovative use of technology, and a strong, community-centered environment, AXL empowers students to explore, discover, and achieve at high levels.

Parent Tip Tuesday

Fuel learning with a healthy lunch.

A nutritious lunch does more than satisfy hunger. It gives students the energy they need to stay focused, participate in class, and finish the school day strong.

When packing your child's lunch, aim for a balanced meal that includes:

• Protein to help keep them full, such as turkey, chicken, cheese, yogurt, eggs, or hummus.
• Whole grains like whole wheat bread, crackers, tortillas, or brown rice for lasting energy.
• Fruits and vegetables to provide vitamins and nutrients that support healthy growth and learning.
• Water to keep them hydrated and ready to learn throughout the day.

Want to make lunchtime more exciting? Let your child help choose healthy foods while you're grocery shopping or involve them in packing their lunch. When children have a say in what's packed, they're more likely to eat and enjoy it.

Small changes can make a big difference. Try adding a colorful fruit, cutting sandwiches into fun shapes, or including a kind note to brighten their day.

Healthy habits at home help students thrive in the classroom, and every nutritious lunch is another step toward a successful school day.
