Extended Opportunities for Learning

AXL operates on an extended year, with three short breaks rather than one long summer vacation. The school day runs from 8:00am – 4:00pm (8:00am – 1:00pm on Wednesdays) with extended opportunities to learn and play until from 6:30am to 6:00pm. Students’ days are organized into learning blocks of at least 75 minutes to provide deep learning, and all students participate in recess every day. The result is nearly 200 instructional days per academic year.
